RAISED FLOORS ARE OPTIONAL

p17_raisedrloorsoptionalAll or a significant portion of the hot air exhaust from the IT load is contained. The total volume of cool air can be delivered through the raised floor, direct from CRAC/H base, direct from CRAC/H top, vertical overhead with ducting or any combination.

If a raised floor is used, the floor height can be reduced to the minimum that is suitable for working space, total volume of cool air can be delivered non-uniformly through floor tiles and grates because all racks are free to pull the air they need from the total room volume.

CRAC/H airflow performance for reduced floor heights must be validated by the CRAC/H manufacturer, however, with the high stagnation pressure typical of most CRAC/H fans, the airflow performance will not be degraded.

RACK TOP TO CEILING RETURN MINIMUM HEIGHT

Height from rack top to ceiling return surface for the mounting of the EC chassis on the rack top and accessing the EC Host is shown below. Reducing this space further is possible but will require the ceiling support grid just above the EC Host to be lifted if Host removal is required.

Minimum distance from ceiling return surface to the bottom of beam/truss should be 12 inches (300 mm). This can be reduced in some conditions if the return air path to the CRAC/H units is along the beam/truss length versus across the beam/truss.

EC SYSTEM OUTLINE

This EC Chassis is capable of fitting 600mm-750mm or 24-30 inch wide racks. The preferred rack depth minimum would be 40” for higher density racks. This EC Chassis is capable of accepting EC10, EC20 and EC30 cartridges for up to 30 kW of intelligent and managed redundant heat containment. Rack tops should be modified or ordered per the Opengate EC Rack Top Template.

p17_connectorEC INTER-DUCT CONNECTOR FOR 30/750 WIDE RACKS

An EC Inter-duct Connector on a 30 inch or 750mm wide rack allows the entire row to be connected and the ceiling return can be trimmed to the entire row. EC Inter-duct connectors are also available for 24 inch / 600mm racks.

EC SYSTEM ELECTRICAL & NETWORK REQUIREMENTS

p17_ecsystemreqs

The EC is capable of world-wide use with a 90-240 VAC 50/60 Hz dual AC input using C14 connection. An EC draws very low power and evenly shares the load from the A and B feed. For example, at 208V input, the EC20 draws;

  • 77 watts total at 60% flow rate
  • 152 watts total at 80% flow rate
  • 263 watts total at 100% flow rate
