12% Chiller plant efficiency improvement with raised Entering Water Temperatures (EWT)
Manufacturers data demonstrating power usage for two types of chillers at 45 and 50 degrees entering chilled water temperature.
Both refrigerant type chillers run more efficiently and give additional capacity if the chilled water temperatures is raised.
The R134-A high pressure chiller creates a 9% capacity increase and a 6% energy savings. The R123 low pressure VFD chiller creates a 17% capacity increase and a 12% energy savings just by increasing the chilled water temperature 5 degrees.
